Nov. 10, 2017 MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 7 Pepperdine men's water polo team took No. 10 UCSB all the way into the last 15 seconds of the second overtime period before falling, 11-10 in the final home match of the season. Marko Asic and Chris Dilworth both had hat tricks for the Waves.

In the final seconds of regulation, Mark Urban (Budapest, Hungary/Diablo Valley College) put a ball past the UCSB keeper to tie the game at 9, sending it to overtime. In the overtime period, UCSB got a couple quick goals, to give them the 11-9 lead. Dilworth (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks HS) put a ball in the back of the net in the second overtime period, but it was too little too late for the Waves, who fell to 17-12 on the year. UCSB improved to 10-11.
During regulation, it was a back and forth game the entire match with nine lead changes. Dilworth got the scoring started from the Waves, with Asic (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) and Kenneth Keller (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) also getting in on the action in the first quarter. Keller scored the Waves' lone goal in the second quarter, and the game went into halftime with a 4-4 tie. Asic started the second half strong for the Waves, getting his second penalty-shot goal of the game. He followed up with another goal, and the Waves led 6-5 going into the fourth quarter. Mate Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School) got his lone goal of the match in the fourth quarter.
