
Waves Travel to Irvine on Friday

MALIBU, Calif. - This Week: The No. 8 Pepperdine men's water polo team travels to No. 6 UC Irvine on Friday. The Waves are currently 17-10 overall and 2-1 in Golden Coast Conference play.
Game #28: Friday (Nov. 3) at No. 6 UC Irvine (11-8, 2-1 GCC) at Anteater Aquatics Complex in Irvine, Calif. at 7:00 p.m.

Golden Coast Conference: The Waves continue GCC play this week against UC Irvine. Last year, the Waves ended the regular season in fourth place, before sweeping through the conference tournament and capturing the inaugural title.
Series vs. UC Irvine: UCI 51-66-1 - The Waves and Anteater have met each year since 1975, with UCI holding the overall advantage. The Waves won all three matchups in 2016, but dropped a 3OT thriller earlier this year.
Rhodes: Senior goalkeeper Zack Rhodes became the first Wave in history to surpass 1,000 career saves on Oct. 14 against Long Beach State. He currently has 1,040 career saves.
Schroeder: Head coach Terry Schroeder won his 400th career game on Oct. 13 against Long Beach State. Schroeder is in his 25th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
Last Week: The Waves had three wins last week, including a GCC win against No. 11 San Jose State, 9-8. They also defeated Claremont Mudd-Scripps 18-8, and No. 17 Pomona-Pitzer, 10-6.
GCC Player of the Week: Zack Rhodes was awarded co-GCC Player of the Week for Oct. 19 after a 17-save outing against Long Beach State. Rhodes is the second Wave to win the award this year, joining Sam Paur (9/14).
