Oct. 21, 2017 STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 7 Pepperdine men's water polo team completed it's trip up north on Saturday with a non conference matchup with No. 4 Stanford. Mate Toth scored twice in a 9-3 loss.

The Waves jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Chris Dilworth (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks HS) just 40 seconds into the game. However, the lead would be short-lived, as the Cardinal answered with four goals of their own in the quarter. Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School) added his first of two goals in the game, which gave Stanford a 4-2 lead heading to the second quarter. The Cardinal defense held the Waves from scoring in the second, taking a 5-2 lead into the half. The Waves kept Stanford from scoring in the third, while Toth added his second goal of the game. Stanford then scored four more goals in the fourth cementing a 9-3 victory.
