MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine men's water polo goalkeeper Zack Rhodes has been awarded co-Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week for his stellar performance against Long Beach State. This is his first GCC Player of the Week award this year, and Pepperdine's second honoree.
Rhodes played an instrumental role in the Waves' 10-5 victory over then No. 7 Long Beach State, with 17 saves on the day. It was his second game in a row with 17 saves, following the close loss to UCLA on Oct. 7.
On the year, Rhodes leads all GCC Goalies with 213 saves, and is second in saves per game average, with 10.65.
The award is Rhodes's second weekly honor of his career, with his first coming Oct. 6 of last year. Sam Paur took home the weekly nod earlier this season for the Waves.
Rhodes and the Waves will be back in action on Friday at Pacific at 7 p.m. and Saturday at Stanford at 1 p.m.
