
Waves Travel Up North, Take on Pacific, Stanford

MALIBU, Calif. - This Week: The No. 7 Pepperdine men's water polo team travels to Northern California this weekend for games against No. 5 Pacific on Friday and No. 4 Stanford on Saturday.
Game #23: Friday (Oct. 20) at No. 5 Pacific at Chris Kjeldsen Pool in Stockton, Calif.: No. 7 Pepperdine (14-8, 1-0 GCC) at No. 5 Pacific (13-3, 2-0 GCC) at 7:00 p.m.
Game #24: Saturday (Oct. 21) at No. 4 Stanford at Avery Aquatics Center in Stanford, Calif.: No. 7 Pepperdine (14-8, 1-0 GCC) vs. No. 4 Stanford (9-3, 0-1 MPSF) at 1:00 p.m.
Follow: The game against Pacific will be broadcast live on pacifictigers.com. The game against Stanford wil be broadcast live on pac-12.com as well as having live stats. Golden Coast Conference: The Waves continue GCC play this week against Pacific. Last year, the Waves ended the regular season in fourth place, before sweeping through the conference tournament and capturing the inaugural title.
Series vs. Pacific.: PEPP 56-28-1 - The Waves and Tigers have met each year since 1976. The Waves won the last meeting in 2016, taking the WCC Crown.
Series vs. Stanford.: STAN 12-78 - The Waves and Cardinal have met each year since 1975. The Waves' last win came in 2008.
Last Week: Last week, the Waves ended a six-game skid, defeating then No. 7 Long Beach State 10-5 in the Waves' first GCC match of the year. Zack Rhodes had 17 saves for the second game in a row, and Marko Asic had four goals.
Rankings: The Waves are currently ranked No. 7 in the nation by the Collegiate Water Polo Association. This is the highest ranking the team has achieved on the year.
GCC Player of the Week: Sam Paur was awarded the GCC Player of the Week for Sept. 14 after scoring six goals on Sunday, Sept. 10. Paur is the first Wave to win the award this year.
