First-Round Results

PEBBLE BEACH, California " Katherine Zhu of the Pepperdine women's golf team is in the top 12 after Monday's first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate.

The Waves are in eighth place after shooting a first-round 297 at the par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course. Pepperdine is just four shots out of fourth place and six shots out of third.

PLAYER SCORES

• Senior Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) is tied for 12th place after her 1-over 72. She had an eventful first nine holes with two birdies and five bogeys, and then she bounced back on her back nine with three birdies and just one bogey.
• Junior Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) is tied for 24th place after a 74. She had two birdies.
• Junior Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is tied for 34th place with a 75. She had two birdies.
• Sophomore Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for 42nd place with a 76.
• Senior Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) is tied for 62nd place with a 78.

UP NEXT

The second round begins at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the Waves, while the third and final round is Wednesday.
