MALIBU, Calif. " Pepperdine women's soccer alum Lynn Williams earned the National Women's Soccer League Golden Boot honors as the league's top scorer.
In just her second professional season for the Western New York Flash, Williams netted 11 goals, giving her a career total of 15 goals since graduating from Pepperdine in 2015. Her 11 goals matched Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai for the league lead, but Williams' five assists gave her the edge in total points and earned her the Golden Boot.
The Pepperdine product was part of the highest scoring offense in the league this season as the Flash scored 40 goals in 20 games. Williams and the Flash will take on Portland Thorns FC on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. ET live on FOX Sports 1 in the semifinals of the 2016 NWSL Playoffs.
Williams had an all-time great career while in Malibu, leading the Waves to three NCAA Tournament appearances in four years, culminating with a run into the Sweet 16 during her senior campaign in 2014. She was named a first-team All-American as a senior and finished her career with 39 total goals, which is good for second on the all-time Pepperdine list. Williams also finished her career tied for first in the record book with 24 assists and second in total points with 102. Her 15 game-winning goals are a Pepperdine record.
Williams was selected sixth overall by the Flash in the 2015 NWSL Draft, becoming the highest drafted Wave to date. As well as her All-American honors, Williams was a semifinalist for the 2014 MAC Hermann Award, given annually to the top player in collegiate soccer.
