Men's Golf Finishes Up at Tucker Intercollegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico " Sahith Theegala wrapped up the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate with a 2-under 70 to move up to a tie for 10th place, highlighting the Pepperdine men's golf team's efforts on Saturday at the second tournament of the fall season.
The Waves finished in 12th place as a team, ending with a two-day score of 902 (300-298-304) at the par-72 UNM Championship Golf Course.
Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) continued a streak that has seen him post at least one below-par round at every single one of his 13 college tournaments that he's completed. After a rocky start that landed the sophomore in a tie for 48th place after the first round, he moved up to a tie for 20th after two rounds and into the top 10 at the end, finishing with a 1-over 217 (75-72-70). His final round included four birdies and he had a total of nine over the two days.
Sophomore Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) claimed his second straight top-20 finish as he tied for 14th place at 220 (71-71-78).
Freshman Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) tied for 48th place at 227 (74-76-77), senior Robbie Geibel (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage HS/Louisville) tied for 84th at 238 (80-79-79) and freshman Hunter Epson (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson HS) was 91st at 246 (81-82-83).
The Waves will next play at California's Alister MacKenzie Invitational on October 10-11.
