D1baseball.com's Prettiest Setting Rankings
Eddy D. Field Stadium
MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's Eddy D. Field Stadium was recently mentioned among the top facilities in the country by D1baseball.com, being named the No. 21 overall best stadium in the country and receiving a No. 1 rating for having the "prettiest setting."
D1baseball surveyed coaches and sports information directors from around the country to compile the list, with the Waves garnering 26 overall points and one first-place vote to come in at No. 21 in the Top 25 poll. Eddy D. Field Stadium was the top West Coast Conference facility on the list. Pepperdine won the setting category easily.
Here's what the publication had to say about the setting for Pepperdine baseball...
"The Waves ran away with this category, receiving more votes than the next five teams combined. Is anyone surprised? What could be better than sitting on a Malibu hillside, watching a baseball game and looking at the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island through the swaying palm trees lined up behind the left-field fence? Heck, it's even scenic when you're facing away from the ocean -- the mountaintop looming behind the backstop is quite striking as you walk up to Eddy D. Field Stadium from beyond the outfield fence."
Eddy D. Field Stadium was built in 1973 and has been the Waves' home ever since. The venue has seating for up to 1,800 fans and includes a fully equipped press box, self-contained clubhouses underneath the grandstands, restrooms and a concessions booth. The facility has undergone continual improvements over the years, adding a video scoreboard in 2007, plus enhancements to the locker rooms, batting cages, fencing and more. Pepperdine has posted a winning record at Eddy D. Field Stadium every season since 1974 and the Waves have won more than 70 percent of their home games over the years.
