REDLANDS, CALIF. - The No. 9 Pepperdine men's water polo team picked up two more wins on Sunday, beating tournament host Redlands 18-4 and Claremont Mudd-Scripps 26-4 at the Inland Empire Classic. The Waves put up a total of 44 goals on Sunday and 86 total for the four-game invite. Freshman Mate Toth led the way for Pepperdine, scoring a season-high five goals in each contest.

Pepperdine is now 6-0 on the season and has only allowed more than four goals once.

Toth (Balatonalmadi, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Boarding School) got the Waves off to a great start against Redlands, scoring twice in what was a 5-0 opening quarter. Pepperdine scored four more times in the second period, getting three from Toth, to take a 9-1 lead into the half.

Redlands never climbed back in it, scoring twice in the second quarter for their highest output of the day. 10 different Waves scored in the game and Philippe Marco (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) came up with four saves in goal.

Toth again got the scoring early in a blowout late-game for the Waves, posting all five of his goals in the first half against Claremont Mudd-Scripps. Marko Asic (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) also had a five-goal game, scoring three times in the second period to help the Waves put things away early.

Pepperdine scored seven goals in each of the first two periods.

The Waves allowed just four or less goals in each game this weekend. It was Pepperdine's second time playing both Claremont Mudd-Scripps and Redlands this season.

The Waves stay on the road next week, heading to top-ranked UCLA on Friday night before going to PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount on Saturday. Pepperdine's first home game is on October 2.
