Round 1 Results

NAPA, Calif. " Hannah Haythorne and Hira Naveed got the Silverado Showdown underway with 1-under 71s, putting them into a tie for fourth place, while the Pepperdine women's golf team is in a tie for fifth place after Sunday's first round.

The Waves shot a 6-over 294 at the par-72 North Course at the Silverado Resort, tying them with Louisville. The Cardinals and the other four teams ahead of Pepperdine are all ranked in Golfstat's top 50, while the Waves are currently ahead of four other top-50 teams. The second round is Monday and the final round is Tuesday.

Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai'i/IMG Academy) and Naveed (Perth, Australia), both freshmen, each had four birdies and three bogeys during their initial rounds. Three of Naveed's birdies came in her first six holes, while Haythorne had three in the first seven.

Freshman Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) also had a good first round with a 1-over 73 that put her into a tie for 16th place. She had five birdies on Sunday, including three in her final five holes.

Senior Marissa Chow (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Iolani HS) is tied for 72nd after a 79 and sophomore Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) is tied for 79th after an 80.
