SAN DIEGO, Calif. " Gabrielle Ellis and Claudia Rodriguez posted personal bests that moved them up on Pepperdine's all-time lists as the Pepperdine track team wrapped up competition at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday.
"Our meet was pretty good," Pepperdine Coach Robert Radnoti said. "Most of our highlights were from last night, but we had some good performances today, particularly Claudia and Gabrielle. We have a few injuries and illnesses so it kept our numbers a little short. But we continue to get ready for our last few meets, and we'll look forward to having everyone back and ready to go next week."
Ellis (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland HS), a junior, ran 12.49 in the women's 100 meters. She was previously #4 on the Waves' all-time top five and today's performance moved her up into a tie for third.
Rodriguez (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet HS), a sophomore, ran 59.05 seconds in the women's 400 meters, putting her at #4 on the Waves' all-time top five.
In other events featuring multiple Waves, the team's top finishers included Ellis in the women's 200 meters, junior Jordan Spencer (Grand Prairie, Texas/South Grand Prairie HS) in the women's 800 meters, senior Hannah Turpin (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon HS) in the women's 400-meter hurdles and junior Nick Blanchard (Portland, Conn./Portland HS) in the men's 800 meters.
Pepperdine runs at UCLA's Bruin Legends Invitational next Friday and Saturday (April 1-2).
