SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. " The Pepperdine women's golf team is in ninth place after Monday's first two rounds of the seventh annual Bruin Wave Invitational.

The Waves shot a total of 611 (306-305) at the par-72 San Luis Obispo Country Club. They're playing against a strong field and all eight teams ahead of the Waves are ranked in Golfstat's top 31 teams in the country.

The third and final round is on Tuesday. Pepperdine will begin teeing off on the 10th hole at 7:45 a.m.

Three Waves are tied for 31st place in the individual standings. Senior Marissa Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) shot 77-75 and both freshmen Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) and freshman Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawaii/IMG Academy) went 76-76.

Freshman Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) is tied for 52nd place at 157 (77-80) and sophomore Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) is tied for 66th at 159 (81-78).

Chow had four birdies on the day, while Wong and Zhu both had three and Haythorne and Naveed both had two.

Playing as individuals, sophomore Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) is tied for 46th at 156 (78-78) and junior Alessandra Arza (Asuncion, Paraguay) is tied for 76th at 163 (87-76).
