Waves Continue to Post Positive NCAA GSR Numbers

Nov. 15, 2016 MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine University Athletics Department continues to post strong Graduation Success Rate (GSR) numbers, which the NCAA released on Tuesday.

The Waves boast an overall GSR rate of 87 percent, just better than the national average of 86 percent (a figure which ties the national record set last year).

The newest GSR data covers student-athletes that enrolled between 2006 and 2009.

Six of the Waves’ programs have 100 percent GSR rates -- baseball, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball -- and eight teams have figures that are better or equal to the national average for their sport.

The NCAA began compiling these figures with the entering freshman class of 1995 and developed the GSR in order to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and removes student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation rates over six years from initial college enrollment.
