
Waves Drop Regular Season Finale at UCSB, 10-8

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The No. 9 Pepperdine men's water polo team dropped its final game of the regular season, falling to No. 4 UC Santa Barbara 10-8.
The loss drops Pepperdine to 12-12 overall and 2-3 in Golden Coast Conference play, while UCSB moves to 18-6, 5-0 GCC. The Waves will be the No. 4 seed in next week's GCC Tournament, while the Gauchos will be the No. 1 seed.
Marko Asic scored five goals, but it wasn't enough to keep pace as the Gauchos scored the last two goals of the game to grab the win.
Pepperdine tied it up in the fourth quarter, getting a goal from Asic with five minutes to play. UCSB scored with 2:54 to play and then again with 36 seconds left on the clock.
The Wave were behind 4-2 at the half and fell behind by three early in the third quarter. Asic and Justin Cowan score for Pepperdine to get the Waves within one and then. After the teams traded goals, Asic tied the game with 1:16 left in the third.
Four different Pepperdine players scored in the game. Seven different Gauchos scored and three players had multiple goals for the home team.
The Waves will head to the conference tournament next weekend. The conference tournament will be held at Pacific in Stockton, Calif., Nov. 18-20.
