
Pepperdine Outpaces Air Force, 20-6

MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 8 Pepperdine men's water polo team scored a convincing 20-6 victory over No. 18 Air Force on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.
The Waves move to 9-7 with the win, while the Falcons fall to 3-10.
Sam Paur (Poway, Calif./Poway HS) paced the Waves in the first half, scoring three times to help Pepperdine to a 9-3 lead at halftime.
The Waves jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Falcons got on the board with 1:04 left in the first quarter. Paur scored back-to-back goals to end the period, getting his second with six seconds left in the quarter to keep Pepperdine up by four.
The Waves outscored Air Force 6-1 in the third quarter and then 5-2 in the fourth.
Mark Urban (Budapest, Hungary//Diablo Valley College) ended up leading the Waves with four goals on the day, as six Pepperdine players notched multiple goals in the game. Riley Thomas had four goals for the Falcons.
The Waves were 4-for-7 on powerplay chances and held Air Force to just 2-for-7.
Zack Rhodes (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) made five saves in goal in the first half and Philippe Marco (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) made four in the second.
Pepperdine is back in action on Friday when they travel to Long Beach State for a conference matchup. The Waves then host Loyola Marymount on Saturday.
