MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine goalkeeper Zack Rhodes picked up the team's first Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week award after a season-best game in net against No. 4 Pacific.
Rhodes posted a season high 18 saves against the Tigers as the No. 8 Waves pushed Pacific to overtime in both teams' GCC opener. The Waves ended up falling 9-8 in the game.
Pepperdine came back from a 3-0 deficit in the game and Rhodes had to hold Pacific scoreless for the last 2:30 of regulation to force overtime. He gave up just one goal in the two extra periods, but the Waves couldn't find a late goal to pull off the win.
Rhodes has 260 saves on the season for Pepperdine, good for second most in the GCC. The junior keeper's career-high is 20 saves, set back in 2015.
Pepperdine hosts UC Santa Barbara tonight in a non-conference matchup at 6:30 p.m.
