SARATOGA, Calif. "" The eighth-ranked Pepperdine men's water polo team picked up a convincing win on the road on Friday night, beating San Jose State 15-7 in a Golden Coast Conference matchup.
The Waves broke the game open with a five-goal second quarter and never looked back, moving to 11-9 overall with the win and 1-2 in GCC play.
Pepperdine outscored the Spartans 8-2 through the second and third quarters to take control of the game. Mate Toth scored twice in the second quarter and was one of seven different Waves to notch goals in the second and third period.
Marko Asic led the way for Pepperdine with four goals in the game, one off of his season high. Toth scored twice along with Kenneth Keller. Mark Urban had two assists for the Waves.
Zack Rhodes had four saves in goal for Pepperdine and Philippe Marco posted six coming off the bench.
The Waves are back in action tomorrow night when they take on No. 8 UC Davis in another road matchup. Pepperdine and UC Davis are currently tied in the national polls.
