Waves Finish Sixth at Royal Oaks Intercollegiate

DALLAS, Texas " Three Waves posted top-15 finishes as the Pepperdine men's golf team wrapped up the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate with a sixth-place result on Tuesday.
Competing in a play-six, count-five event at the par-71 Royal Oaks Country Club, the Waves had a two-day total of 1,077 (365-352-360).
Sophomore Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) had a share of the lead heading into the final round but settled for a tie for third place with a 7-under 206 (67-68-71). Cootes has finished in the top 20 at all four fall events and this was his second straight top-10 placement. His final round included three birdies and he had a team-high 13 for the tournament.
Sophomore Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) and freshman Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) both tied for 13th place with 1-over 214s. Theegala also collected his fourth top-20 finish after going 74-69-71. He had four birdies on Tuesday. McCarthy posted his best result yet with a 77-69-68. His final round included seven birdies and he had 12 over the two days.
Junior Anthony Cecere (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) tied for 52nd at 222 (73-73-76), freshman Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) tied for 58th at 224 (75-73-76) and senior Robbie Geibel (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage HS/Louisville) tied for 62nd at 225 (76-75-74).
The Waves conclude the fall season at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in Kaua'i beginning Sunday and running through next Tuesday.
