WOLCOTT, Colo. -- Senior All-American Marissa Chow of the Pepperdine women's golf team fired a 5-under 67 to wrap up the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Wednesday, moving her all the way into in a tie for fifth place.

Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) overcame a slow start to the tournament to finish with a 3-over 219 (78-74-67). She was in a tie for 44th place after Monday's first round, and was tied for 28th at Wednesday's start. Chow's final round, which tied the best score of the day, was flawless with five birdies and no bogeys.

Chow's day-to-day improvement mirrored that for the rest of the team. The Waves finished sixth overall, ending up with a three-day total of 898 (314-297-287) at the par-72 Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club. The Waves were tied for 12th after the first round and ninth after the second. The Waves' 1-under 287 was the third-best round by any team on Wednesday.

Also finishing up nicely was sophomore Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Shenton College), who shot a 2-under 70 and moved up to a tie for 14th place at 222 (77-75-70). Her final round included a total of four birdies.

Freshman Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) recorded the first top-20 finish of her young career with a tie for 17th place. She shot a total of 223 (77-73-73). She had three birdies on the day and a team-high 11 over the three rounds.

Sophomore Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C./Zhuji Hailiang Private School) and freshman Hannah Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawaii/IMG Academy) both tied for 64th place with a total of 237. Zhu shot 82-78-77 and Haythorne was 84-75-78.

Pepperdine's streak of titles at the Golfweek Conference Challenge ended at three (the Waves won in 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014). Chow, who was medalist at the 2014 tournament, recorded her third straight top-five finish at the event.

The Waves will next compete at Washington's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on October 6-7.
