LOS ANGELES -- The #16-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team defeated Loyola Marymount by a 6-1 tally on Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center. The Waves have now won seven in a row and boast an unblemished 6-0 record in West Coast Conference matches.

Pepperdine, 12-4 overall in 2015, claimed the doubles point to open the dual, taking a 1-0 lead into singles.

Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai (Bangkok, Thailand/IMG Academy) first defeated Lisa Piller and Ellie Grossman, 6-1 at No. 1. Matea Cutura (Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Birotehnika/DePaul) and Christine Maddox (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS) secured the point, improving to 10-0 with their 6-4 triumph over Andrea Crespo and Julia Norlin.

Maddox quickly put the Waves ahead 2-0. The sophomore swept Grossman on the singles court, 6-1, 6-2.

Laura Gulbe (Riga, Latvia/Murjāņu Sporta Ģimnāzija) followed suit, charting a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Crespo.

Playing at No. 4, Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) defeated Kristine Kouyoumjian 6-2, 6-2 to lift Pepperdine to a 4-0 advantage.

Danielle Feneridis (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls HS) and Cutura both split sets before winning in the 10-point tiebreaker to score two more points for the visiting team.

Guillermo suffered a rare loss, dropping a closely contested 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 decision to Jessica Perez. The senior still boasts a 13-2 dual record this season.

The win scores the Waves 1.5 points in the Wells Fargo PCH Cup.

Pepperdine celebrates Senior Day for Guillermo tomorrow, April 10 with a 1:30 p.m. match vs. Portland. Free sandwiches will be served to the first 50 fans in attendance.
