Men's Golf Places Eighth at ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Frederick Wedel and Cody McManus posted strong individual finishes as the Pepperdine men's golf team placed eighth at Arizona State's Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday.
The Waves played consistent golf over the two days at the par-70 Karsten Golf Course, shooting 288-287-288 for a total of 863.
This was Pepperdine's final tournament before the Waves host the West Coast Conference Championships at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif., on April 13-15.
Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS), a junior, tied for sixth place in his second-best finish of the season. He finished with a 1-under 209 (73-66-70). His even-par final round included four birdies.
McManus (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS), a redshirt sophomore, recorded his fourth straight season-best finish and his fourth straight top-20 result. He tied for 11th place, a career-best result, with a 1-over 211 (70-73-68). His 2-under on Saturday included four birdies.
Senior Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) tied for 43rd place at 218 (71-72-75), junior David Pelekoudas (Irvine, Calif./University HS/Orange Coast College) tied for 69th at 226 (74-77-75) and freshman Anthony Cecere (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) tied for 75th at 230 (79-76-75).
