SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The #42-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team delivered a 4-1 victory over #52 San Francisco on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament. The second-seeded Waves will face top-seeded San Diego in tomorrow's final, set for a 1 p.m. start.

The battle for the doubles point proved to be fierce. Although #89-ranked Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa got the better of Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia) and Rakshay Thakkar (Pune, India/St. Vincent's High School) at No. 1, the Waves' No. 2 and No. 3 pairs sealed the deal.

Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) and Lautaro Pane (Puerto Madryn, Argentina/SEADEA) held off James Tallman and Christian Brockstedt, 8-6, leading the way for Tom Hill (Birmingham, England/K12 International Academy) and Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS)to secure the doubles point.

Despite playing in just their third match together this season, Hill and Tanaka-Tamaki rose to the occasion and edged Thomas Takemoto and Vasco Valverde by an 8-6 tally.

Pepperdine, now 17-8 on the season, quickly surged out to a 3-0 lead, but the fourth point proved to be a bit more difficult to come by.

Menichellawas first off the court following his dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Tallman at No. 3.

Pane also won in straight sets, downing Johan Samuelsson, 6-0, 6-3.

USF (14-9) put a point on the board when #116 Saraiva defeated Hadlich at No. 1, 7-5, 6-0.

The remaining three matches all went to a third set.

Dual-clinching specialist Iamachkine lifted the Waves out of reach, scoring the fourth point with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 triumph against Takemoto at No. 4. The Pepperdine freshman has now scored the dual-clinching fourth point in 10 of the Waves' 17 wins this season.

#42 Pepperdine and #22 San Diego face off for the WCC Tournament championship title for the second-straight season on Saturday. Live scores will be available through the Tournament Central.
