MALIBU, Calif. -- The #18-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team secured a first place finish in the West Coast Conference regular-season standings with today's 4-1 triumph over Pacific. The Waves move to 14-5 overall, and a perfect 8-0 in the league with one match left to play before the postseason.

Pepperdine has won every WCC Regular-Season Championship, four in total, since the league's teams began playing every other squad in the conference in 2012. The Waves are locked in to the No. 1 seed at next week's conference tournament, and will play either the No. 8 or No. 9 seed in the Thursday's quarterfinals.

Although Pacific got the upper hand in doubles, Pepperdine stormed back in singles, not allowing the home squad a solitary set.

Matea Cutura (Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Birotehnika/DePaul) was lights out for the Waves, downing Regina Suarez, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.

Christine Maddox (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS) was also dominant at No. 5, charting a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Daria Labintseva.

Playing at No. 5, Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) kept it rolling for Pepperdine with a straight-set win versus Gergana Bonveva.

Despite the long names on the score board, Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai (Bangkok, Thailand/IMG Academy) made short work of Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz, defeating the Tiger 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.

Once the Waves were out of reach at 4-1, action was abandoned on the two remaining courts. Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) was up 6-2, 5-2, while Laura Gulbe (Riga, Latvia/Murjāņu Sporta Ģimnāzija) was ahead 6-3, 2-3.

The Waves conclude the regular-season tomorrow, April 18 against #45 Saint Mary's.
