MALIBU, Calif. -- The #16-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team shut out #55 Portland, 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. As the last home dual of the regular season, Senior Day was celebrated for the Waves' ace Lorraine Guillermo.

Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS), a three-time All-West Coast Conference selection in both singles and doubles, was honored before the match. The senior clinched today's dual at 4-0 with her 101st singles win of her impressive college career.

Pepperdine was off and running in doubles, jumping out to sizable leads on all three courts. Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai (Bangkok, Thailand/IMG Academy) were the first to finish, downing Lucia Butkovska and Jelena Lazarevic by a 6-2 tally.

Christine Maddox (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS) and Matea Cutura (Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Birotehnika/DePaul) clinched the doubles point and improved to 11-0 as a pair following their 6-3 triumph over Sophie van den Aarssen and Amanda Zuidema.

Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) and Danielle Feneridis (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls HS) were up 5-2 at No. 3 when action was suspended.

The Waves continued to roll in singles, and took a set lead on all six courts.

Maddox shut out Tori Troesch, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 before Runglerdkriangkrai put away a straight-set triumph at No. 3 to give Pepperdine the 3-0 lead.

Fittingly enough, it was Guillermo to clinch the dual for the Waves today in Malibu. The senior, up to #9 in the singles rankings, beat Butkovska 6-1, 6-4 to chalk point No. 4 for her team.

Capannolo kept it rolling, outlasting Saroop Dhatt, 6-1, 2-6, 10-8.

Cutura also went to the 10-point tiebreaker in the third against Lazarevic, and won soundly, 10-3.

Laura Gulbe (Riga, Latvia/Murjāņu Sporta Ģimnāzija) was the last left on the court. After splitting sets with Maja Mlandenovic, the Waves' rookie took set three, 6-2 to round out the 7-0 sweep.

Pepperdine continues action on Sunday, April 12 with a 12 p.m. match at #13 Stanford. Live scores and video will be available.
