TEMPE, Ariz. - The #16-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team wrapped up non-conference play with a 4-3 win over #19 Arizona State on the road. The Waves clinched the dual at 4-0 before the Sun Devils were able to snag the final three points.

The Waves return to Malibu with a 6-4 record, including four wins over top-30 ranked squads. ASU drops to 10-3.

Pepperdine got on the board first with a strong team effort in doubles. Although the Sun Devils took the match at No. 1, Christine Maddox (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS) and Matea Cutura (Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Birotehnika/DePaul) at No. 2, as well as Danielle Feneridis (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls HS) and Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) at No. 3 came through for the Waves.

Both pairs won 6-4. Maddox and Cutura are now a perfect 5-0 together this season.

Capannolo set the tone in singles for Pepperdine, dispatching Joanna Smith 6-1, 6-2 to make it a 2-0 dual.

Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) won her seventh in a row with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Desirae Krawczyk at No. 1.

Laura Gulbe (Riga, Latvia/Murjāņu Sporta Ģimnāzija) sealed the deal, defeating Stephanie Vlad by a score of 6-4, 6-4.

Although the dual was decided, the two sides played out the remaining matches. ASU got on the board courtesy of Ebony Panoho at No. 6. The Sun Devils won the last two matches to bring the final score to 4-3.
