MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's basketball team fell to Gonzaga, 78-56, in the team's home finale on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Bria Richardson, Ea Shoushtari, Tessa Emerson and Robie Mayberrry were all honored before the game, and the Waves were also playing to help raise cancer awareness and funds through their annual Play 4 Kay pink game.

Pepperdine fell behind by double digits in the first half, but would close it to a four-point game with 2:17 to play in the period. The two teams traded baskets, but a 3-pointer from Emma Stach helped the Zags take a 33-27 advantage into the break.

The Waves held Gonzaga to 41.4 percent shooting in the first half and got seven points each from Keitra Wallace (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda HS) and Allie Green (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento HS). The Bulldogs would hit 53.1 percent of their shots in the second half, however, to pull away.

Seven quick points out of the gate pushed it to an 11-point Gonzaga advantage. Though the Waves would cut it to a five-point margin soon after, the Bulldogs went on an 16-3 run to make it a 56-38 game with just over 10 minutes left.

The Waves couldn't find a late run, despite 12 second-half points from Wallace. The junior forward would finish with a team-high 19 in the game. Shoushtari (Los Angeles, Calif./L.A.C.E.S.) added 11 in her final contest in Firestone Fieldhouse.

Gonzaga had four players scored in double figures, led by Keani Albanez with 20 points. The Zags scored 29 points off turnovers on the day and got 28 points from its bench. The Waves owned a slight edge in the paint, outscoring the Bulldogs 26-24 down low.

The loss drops the Waves to 7-19 overall, 2-13 WCC and moves Gonzaga to 21-4, 14-0 WCC. The Waves finish the regular season on the road, heading to Santa Clara and San Francisco next week, before finishing up at PCH Cup rival LMU.
