MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's basketball team opened its home slate with a win on Friday night, downing Cal State Fullerton 81-75 in Firestone Fieldhouse.

The Waves got double-double from Erica Ogwumike and Keitra Wallace in the contest, with Ogwumike leading all scorers with 28 points to go along with her 10 rebounds. Wallace finished with 14 points and 13 boards.

Pepperdine had to fend off a late push by the Titans in the game, after going up by as much as 12 in the fourth quarter. CSUF cut the Waves' lead to three with just over a minute to play, but Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods HS) hit a pair of foul shots and Wallace (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda HS) added three more down the stretch to keep Pepperdine in front.

Kayla Blair (Fairfield, Calif./Vanden HS) hit a layup with 6:46 to play in the fourth to give the Waves their largest lead of the game, 71-59. Blair's bucket capped a 7-0 run for the Waves that included an Ogwumike three.

CSUF had a run of their own, outscoring the Waves 11-4 over a two minute stretch to make it a 76-73 game. Wallace and Ogwumike scored the last five points to keep it out of reach for the visitors, though.

After trailing through much of the second quarter, Wallace hit a three with just seconds left in the half to give the Waves a 37-36 lead at the break. Pepperdine would outscore the Titans 24-19 in the third quarter.

The Waves shot 56.7 percent in the second half and 48.5 percent for the game. Allie Green (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento HS) was the third Wave to score in double figures, putting up 10 points. Green and Ogwumike also led the team with three steals on the night.

Pepperdine held a 42-30 points in the paint advantage and scored 20 points on fast-breaks. The Waves also held a 49-37 rebounding advantage.

With the win, Pepperdine moves to 1-3 on the year, while the Titans fall to 2-1 with their first loss. The Waves travel to Anchorage, Alaska for the Great Alaska Shootout next week, opening play at the invite against Alaska-Anchorage on Tuesday at 9 p.m. (PT).
