RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams finished play at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic with five more wins on the closing day. It was the final tournament for both the men and the women as the Waves embark on the 2015 dual season next weekend.

The Pepperdine men, represented at the tournament by rookies Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia), Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS), Luca Marquard (Bensheim, Germany/Goethe Gymnasium Bensheim) and Lautaro Pane (Puerto Madryn, Argentina/SEADEA), faced players from Washington on the third and final day.

Pane dispatched Jeff Hawke in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record.

Hadlich notched his second victory of the weekend, defeating Rishabh Raman 6-3, 6-4.

Pane and Hadlich also picked up the win in doubles today together.

Iamachkine was edged out by Viktor Farkas, 7-6 (5), 6-3, while Marquard stumbled in straight sets.

"I'm incredibly proud of how all the guys competed. They handled the pressure and anxiety of playing in their first college tournament extremely well and represented the school with pride and honor," praised head coach Marcelo Ferreira. "I can't wait to come back to Pepperdine to work on the things we saw this weekend and get ready for a very tough first match against UCLA on Friday."

On the women's side, Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) reached her second singles final of the tournament season after going 4-0 on Friday and Saturday. Her run came to an end today, however, as the senior fell 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to UCLA's Kyle McPhillips.

In doubles, Guillermo and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai (Bangkok, Thailand/IMG Academy) were stopped in the semifinals by a top-10 ranked pair. The Waves faced #6 Taylor Davidson and Carol Zhao out of Stanford and lost by a 6-2 tally.

Freshman Laura Gulbe (Riga, Latvia/Murjāņu Sporta Ģimnāzija) concluded her debut weekend with wins in both singles and doubles. She first topped Shani Blecher (San Diego) 6-2, 6-1 before teaming up with Christine Maddox (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica HS) to defeat Krista Hardebeck and Lindsey Kostas (Stanford) in doubles, 6-1.

Both the Pepperdine men and women open the 2015 dual season next Friday and Saturday with the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The men, ranked #53 in the ITA team rankings, face #4 UCLA on Friday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The #26-ranked women's squad opens the season against #55 Wichita State on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Marks Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC.
