LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Michaela Capannolo of the Pepperdine women's tennis team made her debut today at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The junior bowed out in the first round of singles prequalifying, but will continue her run on Tuesday, Sept. 30 with doubles qualifying.
Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) made her way into the prequalifying draw on Thursday, after being previously named an alternate.
Up against Ashvarya Shrivastava of New Mexico State, Capannolo dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision to make an early exit out of the national tournament.
She'll continue action at the Riviera Tennis Club on Tuesday, when she teams up with Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) in the doubles qualifying draw. Guillermo, as one of 24 to earn a bye into the main draw, takes to the singles court on Thursday, Oct. 2.
