MALIBU, Calif. - The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation released its postseason awards today and Pepperdine's Luke Hewko earned All-MPSF honorable mention for the second year in a row.
Hewko was the Waves' leading scorer this season, posting 55 goals in his junior campaign to help Pepperdine finish tied for sixth in the conference.
Hewko finished sixth in the conference with 2.12 goals per game this season. His 55 scores matches his total from last season and puts him 20th all-time on the Pepperdine career scoring list with 124 goals. It was Hewko's second-straight season finishing in the top 10 on the conference scoring list.
The Waves finished the regular season in a tie for sixth in the MPSF standings and took the #7 seed into the conference tournament. The Waves posted a thrilling comeback victory against UC Irvine to grab sixth place in the postseason tournament.
Hewko has one more season of eligibility for the Waves after redshirting the 2012 season. Pepperdine returns the majority of its young squad next season as the program continues to rebuild.
