
Men's Water Polo Hosts #4 Cal, #1 Stanford

This Week: The No. 11 Pepperdine men's water polo team plays two MPSF home games this weekend. The Waves face #4 California on Saturday at 10 a.m. and #1 Stanford on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Last Week: The Waves fell to then-No. 5 Long Beach State on the road last Saturday, 14-3. Wesley Sherburne scored all three goals.
Waves in the Rankings: Pepperdine remained at No. 11 in the CWPA poll for the second straight week. The Waves started the season ranked No. 9 in the preseason poll.
Leading the Charge: Luke Hewko has led the Waves offensively this season, scoring a team-high 40 goals in 17 games played. His 2.35 goals per game are good for fifth in the MPSF. Hewko scored 55 goals last year and recorded 20 steals and eight assists. His brother Adam Hewko was a two-time All-American, playing four years at Pepperdine and is the Waves' 13th all-time goal scorer.
Freshman in Net: Freshman goalkeeper Zack Rhodes has started 16 games so far for the Waves while recording 155 total saves. His 8.77 saves per game are good for eighth in the conference.

Pepperdine has one home game left on the schedule after this weekend (UC Irvine, Nov. 1).
The MPSF Tournament will run Nov. 21-23, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament on Dec. 6-7.
