SAN DIEGO - For the third year in a row, Lorraine Guillermo of the Pepperdine women's tennis team has reached the singles semifinal of the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Additionally, she won twice today alongside Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai in doubles to advance to the semifinals of that draw as well.

Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS), ranked #20 and seeded second in the tournament, faced #96 Cindy Nguyen of Hawaii. After edging Nguyen 7-5 in set one, Guillermo cruised to a 6-2 win in the second.

The senior ace will face #38 Giuliana Olmos of USC on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the semifinals.

In doubles, both Pepperdine pairs won their first matches of the day to advance to the quarterfinals. Guillermo and Runglerdkriangkrai (Bangkok, Thailand/IMG Academy) narrowly escaped with a 7-5 win the tiebreaker against UC Santa Barbara's Jaimee Gilbertson and Natalie Da Silveira before dispatching Kyle McPhillips and Kristin Wiley of UCLA, 8-4.

A semifinal matchup against Alexandra Osborne and Leghann Sahgun of Arizona State is on tap tomorrow morning.

Danielle Feneridis (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls HS) and Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) ousted Lauren Marker and Hanna Sohn of Arizona in the round of 16, but saw their run come to an end against fourth-seeded Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith in the quarterfinals.

Runglerdkriangkrai picked a banner victory in the Lucky Loser Draw. The sophomore Wave grinded out a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 triumph against #57 Catherine Harrison. It was Runglerdkriangkrai's first-ever win against a ranked opponent.
