MALIBU, Calif. - Hudson Treu was announced this week as the newest member of Pepperdine baseball's class after signing a National Letter of Intent with the Waves. Treu is a right-handed pitcher coming to Malibu by way of Houston Christian High School where he played under head coach Emrick Jagneaux.
Treu, a 6-3 hurler, is the 25th ranked RHP in Texas according to Perfect Game and is in the top 70 in the state.
"Hudson is a pitcher with tremendous upside," said Pepperdine Head Coach Steve Rodriguez. "He should fit in really well here. He comes from a family of Pepperdine grads. His frame alone has the ability for great growth and his ability to pitch like he does will give him great potential for years to come."
In his past three seasons as a varsity player, Treu played both third and pitcher, amassing a 14-5 record on the mound, with 115 strikeouts, 37 walks and a 2.30 ERA. He also hit .320 at the plate.
Treu was an All-American High Honorable mention by Perfect Game and was an All-Southern District (Texas-Oklahoma) selection. He was named the Defensive Player of the Year at Houston Christian and was selected for the Texas Scouting Association game as one of the top 75 players in the state.
Treu played club ball for Legends Black/Marusky and Trosky Baseball.
"I wanted to go to school in California," said Treu of why he chose to come to Malibu. "Pepperdine offered excellent academics, and the opportunity to play baseball at the highest level with quality coaches and players. Both of my parents and several family members went to Pepperdine, so I was also happy to continue the tradition."
