Na, Chow Lead Women's Golf at Season-Opening Tournament

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Grace Na tied for fourth place and Marissa Chow tied for 13th to highlight the Pepperdine women's golf team's efforts at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The Waves finished in ninth place at the season-opening tournament.

The Waves were tied for seventh after two rounds but took a step back after ending up with a score of 907 (300-296-311) at the par-73 UNM Championship Golf Course.

Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS), a junior who is a two-time All-American, wrapped up her three rounds with a 1-under 218 (71-71-76). It's the second time in her college career that she's finished a tournament below par. She had five more birdies on Tuesday, giving her a total of 13 over the two days.

Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS), a freshman making her collegiate debut, ended with a 2-over 221 (73-73-75)

Playing as an individual, junior Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) took 34th place at 227 (74-76-77). Sophomore Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) tied for 49th at 232 (76-75-81), junior Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph' HS) tied for 69th at 236 (80-77-79) and sophomore Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) tied for 88th at 249 (83-81-85).

The Waves are in action again next week (Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 24-26) at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo.
