Men's Golf Begins Play at U.S. Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Junior Johnny Mac Arthur shot a 1-over 71 to lead the Pepperdine men's golf team during the first round of the U.S. Intercollegiate on Friday.

The Waves have some work to do as a team, however, as they stand 16th out of 17 squads after a first-round score of 295. Play continues at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course with single rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) is in a tie for 25th place after his round. He had two birdies on his first three holes, three on the front nine and a team-best total of four on the day.

Senior Josh Anderson (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) is tied for 47th place at 73, sophomore Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) is tied for 56th at 74, freshman Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Rancho Santa Margarita HS) is tied for 80th at 77 and sophomore Alex Forss (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak HS) is tied for 83rd at 79.

DeHuff had three birdies on Friday, while the other three Waves each recorded two.
