Pepperdine Golf Notes 
MALIBU, Calif. -- The postseason is rapidly approaching for the Pepperdine men's golf team, but before the West Coast Conference Championships arrive in mid-April, two regular-season events remain. The first of back-to-back tournaments is later this week at Stanford's U.S. Intercollegiate.
EVENT INFO -- The tournament will be held at the par-70, 6,727-yard Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. Teams will play 18 holes each day between Friday and Sunday (March 30-April 1). Live scoring will appear on Golfstat.com.
FIELD -- In addition to Pepperdine, the 16-team tournament consists of Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Stanford, UC Davis, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
PEPPERDINE LINEUP -- For the fifth time this season, the Waves will have a lineup of senior Josh Anderson (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS), junior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS), sophomores Alex Forss (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak HS) and Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) and freshman Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS).
2011-12 STATISTICS -- After nine tournaments, Josh Anderson leads the team with a 71.67 stroke average (which is on pace to be the third-best single-season average in Pepperdine history). He's also been in the top 10 six times (best were ties for second place at both the Husky Invitational and Barona Collegiate Cup) and the top 20 eight times. Johnny Mac Arthur is second on the team with a 73.17 average and he's got six top-20 results, including a tie for third place at the Arizona Intercollegiate. The statistics for the Waves' other players in the lineup are Page (75.13 in 24 rounds), DeHuff (76.44 in 16) and Forss (77.29 in 21).
RANKINGS -- Josh Anderson is rated #64 by Golfweek/Sagarin and #73 by Golfstat.
ANDERSON -- Senior Josh Anderson is Pepperdine's most experienced and accomplished player. He's fourth all-time for the Waves with a 72.88 career scoring average. He has won two career tournaments: the General Hackler Championship in spring 2010 and the Husky Invitational in fall 2010. Anderson is a three-time All-WCC first teamer and a four-time WCC Player of the Month. Among school career records, he also ranks fourth in sub-par rounds (38), fifth in top 20 finishes (28), fifth in top 10 results (19) and eighth in total rounds played (137). It's believed that Anderson became the first active Pepperdine player to compete in a PGA Tour event when he took part in the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines in February 2009, and he participated in the 2011 event as well (then known as the Farmers Insurance Open).
PAGE -- Sophomore Parker Page earned co-medalist honors at the Folino Invitational for his first collegiate victory. He shot 72-71-72 for a total of a 1-under 215. Page earned All-WCC honorable mention honors last year as a freshman.
GEIBERGER -- The 2011-12 season marks John Geiberger's 16th as head coach of Pepperdine. In his first season as coach of the Waves, Geiberger led the team to the 1997 NCAA national title, the first in team history. Under Geiberger's guidance, Pepperdine has won the WCC title 10 times (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010) and he has earned the league's Coach of the Year honors on five occasions (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2005).
2012 NCAAs -- The goal is always to get to the NCAA Championships and in 2012 the Waves have even more reason to want to qualify. The event, hosted by USC, is being held just a short drive down PCH at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades (just about 15 miles from Pepperdine's campus). Pepperdine, which finished 25th at the 2011 NCAA Championships, is attempting to make consecutive NCAA appearances for the second time (1996 and 1997).
PEPPERDINE GOLF HISTORY -- Thanks to its victory at the 1997 NCAA Championships, Pepperdine will always be known on a national level for its outstanding men's golf program. The Waves have made eight appearances at the NCAA Championships since 1993 and have made 13 consecutive NCAA Regional berths. In the West Coast Conference, they've won 17 championships since 1987 and have finished either first or second in 21 of the last 25 years.
