Feb. 13, 2012

MALIBU, Calif. - Former Wave Jennifer Lacy was re-signed to a multi-year deal by the Tulsa Shock, the team president announced today.

Lacy has been with the Shock for the last two seasons. Overall, she is a seven-year professional, Lacy was the first player from the West Coast Conference to make a WNBA roster after signing with the Phoenix Mercury in 2006.

Shock team president Steve Swetoha told WNBA.com in an interview, "Re-signing Jennifer Lacy was a huge priority for us this off-season. She's a leader and a professional on and off the court and we are extremely excited to have her back in a Shock uniform."

Her head coach Gary Kloppenburg echoed similar sentiments in an interview with WNBA.com. "She embodies the kind of player we want to continue to build around - a high-energy contributor that will continue to work hard to improve," Kloppenburg said. "She is a versatile defender and has the quickness and skills to be able to play multiple positions. She is a person of high character that is a great teammate that contributes greatly to the Tulsa community. We are looking forward to her return to the Tulsa Shock as we continue to improve this off-season."

A first team All-WCC selection as a senior for the Waves, Lacy led team in scoring (16.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg) during her final season in Malibu and was part of two NCAA Tournament teams in 2002 and 2003.
