Silverstein Named To NBC All-Midwest Regional Team

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine senior Miles Silverstein was an easy selection to the NBC (National Baseball Congress) All-Midwest Regional team after batting .563 this week through three games for the El Dorado (Kan.) Broncos.
A shortstop, Silverstein collected nine hits in 16 at-bats, five of which were doubles. He also drove in six runs, scored three times and drew one walk. For the season he is batting .340 through 50 at-bats with 11 RBI.
The Broncos (16-25) entered the tournament as its No. 3 seed but went 1-2 after suffering consecutive losses to the No. 2 Derby Twins (L, 4-6) in the semifinals and Salina Blue Jays (L, 8-9) in the consolation bracket. El Dorado opened the tournament with a 6-4 triumph over the Hutchinson Monarchs.
Silverstein and the Broncos return to action Saturday for the start of a three-game series vs. Liberal. The prestigious NBC World Series start July 30 and runs through Aug. 13 at Wichita's Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
