Round 2 Results 
BOULDER CITY, Nev. - One of the best rounds in school history vaulted the Pepperdine women's golf team into first place and a two-shot lead after Tuesday's second round of the UNLV Spring Invitational.
The Waves fired a 10-under 278 at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club, the fourth-best round in program history relative to par. Overall, the Waves have a 13-under 563 (285-278), the second-best score after 36 holes in program history.
Most of Pepperdine's records were set at this same course. The Waves shot an NCAA-record 41-under at the 2008 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, which included rounds of 18-under and 15-under and a 36-hole score of 26-under.
The Waves will be in contention for the team title during Wednesday's final round with future West Coast Conference opponent BYU, which is two strokes back at 565. Oklahoma is in third place at 574, 11 strokes behind Pepperdine.
Four Waves rank among the top eight and none of the four has posted a round above par. Three of the players recorded 3-under 69s today.
Junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) and sophomore Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) are tied for second with 4-under 140s, as both have shot 71-69. Drolson had five birdies (four in the final seven holes) and two bogeys on Tuesday, while Kang had four and one.
The two Waves are four strokes back of the leader, Kelsey Vines of BYU.
Senior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) is tied for fifth place with a 3-under 141 (72-69) with four birdies on the day, including a run of three straight on the front nine. Freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is in eighth place with a 2-under 142 after back-to-back 71s. She had three birdies today.
Freshman Grace Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) is in 14th place with a 1-over 145 (72-73). She had four birdies during her Tuesday round.
Playing as individuals, senior Martine de Gannes (Diego Martin, Trinidad) and freshman Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) are both tied for 34th place at 151. De Gannes has shot 73-78 and Gillaspy has posted 77-74.
