MALIBU, Calif. - Junior two-meter offense Spencer Hamby of the Pepperdine men's water polo team Tuesday was announced as one of 14 student-athletes to be named All-MPSF honorable mention.
After missing the first weekend of the season, as he was in Greece representing the U.S. in the 2011 FINA Junior World Championships, Hamby (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) scored 23 goals this year, including eight games with two or more scores. His 23 goals tie his career-high, set last year as a sophomore.
Hamby had two hat tricks this season, with the first coming in an 11-10 road MPSF victory over UC Irvine. The second came in the seventh place MPSF game against UC Santa Barbara, where he netted all three goals in the third period, dominating from two meters.
This is Hamby's first All-MPSF honor of his career.
The Waves finished off their season on Sunday in the MPSF Tournament, where they fell to UC Santa Barbara 10-8.
