Frederick Powers Pepperdine Past Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The #19 Pepperdine women's volleyball team was nearly unstoppable tonight, defeating Santa Clara 3-1. Lilla Frederick delivered one of the best performances of her career with 19 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks.
Although the Broncos struck first with a 25-23 victory in the opening set, the Waves were the dominant team and took the next three frames, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-7.
With the win, Pepperdine improves to 12-5 and a perfect 6-0 in West Coast Conference play. Santa Clara falls to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the league.
Frederick (Huntington Beach, Calif./Cornelia Connelly HS) set a career-high with her seven rejections at the net this evening. Her 19 kills was a season best, and just one put away shy of tying her career best tally of 20.
Perhaps even more impressive was Frederick's efficiency on the attack. The senior took 30 swings and committed just two errors to raise her career-high single match hitting percentage to .567.
On top of that, she managed to pick up 10 digs for her team-best 12th double-double of the season.
Victoria Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) kept the block party rolling with 10 returns to bring the team block total to a season-best 18.
The Waves hit for a season high .336 with the help of Reigning WCC Player of the Week Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS). The sophomore setter dished 43 assists while tagging down six kills on a .556 clip. Her well-rounded effort also included 10 digs.
Kim Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland Christian HS), who was recently named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, helped the Waves' cause with 11 kills and seven digs and four blocks.
Freshman middle blocker Samantha Cash (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) had another solid outing, and posted nine kills and seven blocks. Senior libero Stevi Robinson (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) protected the floor with 10 digs.
The Broncos were limited to a .078 hitting percentage, but got a stand-out performance from Katherine Douglas who nailed down 12 kills to pace her team.
The Waves continue this week's tour of northern California with a tangle versus San Francisco at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15.
