VAIL, Colo. - Seniors Taylore Karle and Martine de Gannes led the Pepperdine women's golf team with top 20 finishes as the Golfweek Conference Challenge concluded on Tuesday with its third and final round.

The Waves came in ninth place as a team after scoring a total of 903 (297-308-298) at the par-72 Red Sky Golf Club.

Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) and de Gannes (Diego Martin, Trinidad) both tied for 16th place overall with 7-over 223s.

Karle had hovered around the same spot on the leaderboard all three days and shot a 73-76-74. De Gannes climbed from 56th to 38th to her final position after scoring a 79-74-70. Her score of 2-under today was the Waves' best round of the tournament. De Gannes had a total of five birdies, including three in the final six holes.

Junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) tied for 35th place at 229 (75-78-76), as did freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand), who shot 71-80-78. Freshman Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) tied for 67th place at 241 (78-80-83).

The Waves won this event last year by one stroke over California when it was played at the Primm (Nev.) Valley Desert Resorts. Pepperdine was without sophomore Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS), who was invited to play in this weekend's Japan Women's Open after winning the U.S. Women's Amateur this summer.

Pepperdine concludes its fall season at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on October 4-6.
