Women's Golf Completes Second Round at Golfweek Conference Challenge

VAIL, Colo. - Senior Martine de Gannes had the best round of the day for the Pepperdine women's golf team as the Waves completed the second round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Monday.

The Waves fell back two spots to ninth place and have a two-day total of 605 (297-308). The third and final round is on Tuesday at the par-72 Red Sky Golf Club.

De Gannes (Diego Martin, Trinidad) shot a 2-over 74 on Monday, which allowed her to move up nearly 20 spots and into a tie for 38th place with a 153 (79-74).

Senior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy) is the top Wave on the leaderboard, as she is tied for 16th place with a 149 (73-76).

Freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand) is tied for 25th place at 151 (71-80), junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) is tied for 38th place at 153 (75-78) and freshman Danielle Gillaspy (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph's HS) is tied for 54th place at 158 (78-80).

Karle and Drolson had three birdies during their round, while de Gannes and Gillaspy each had two.

The Waves won this event last year by one stroke over California when it was played at the Primm (Nev.) Valley Desert Resorts. Pepperdine is without sophomore Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS), who was invited to play in this weekend's Japan Women's Open after winning the U.S. Women's Amateur this summer.
