TUCSON, Ariz. - The Pepperdine women's volleyball team stumbled on Friday night against Arizona, suffering a 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-20) loss to the hosting Wildcats. The Waves fell to 7-5, while Arizona improved to 9-2.
Kim Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland HS) tallied 15 kills on a team-best .314 attack percentage for the second-straight match, including a blistering eight in the first set alone, and was the only player on the floor to eclipse the double-digit kill total. Courtney Karst led the Wildcats with nine put aways.
While the Waves nailed down 34 kills, compared to the Arizona's 33, the Wildcats were able to control the tempo of the match with a .220 (33-11-100) team attach percentage. Pepperdine was limited to an uncharacteristic .077 (34-25-117) success rate.
On defense, Stevi Robinson (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Mira Cost HS) collected 12 digs to bring her career total to 1,084. She surpassed Nicole Sanderson (1994-97) on the all-time career dig totals list in the Pepperdine Record books to take ownership of sixth place. She needs 84 more saves to take over the five spot.
The Waves conclude that Arizona Invitational tomorrow, at 10:30 a.m., when they face off with Texas State.
