NCAA Fall Preview Round 1 Results

BRYAN, Texas - The Pepperdine women's golf team's 2010-11 campaign got off to a tough start as the Waves shot a 19-over at the first round of the NCAA Fall Preview on Monday.

The event is being contested at the par-72 Traditions Club, site of the 2011 NCAA Championships. Fifteen of the participating teams placed in the top 25 at last year's NCAA Championships and all 18 teams are ranked in Golfweek's preseason top 30.

Pepperdine's score of 307 put it into a tie for 17th place with Stanford. The second round is on Tuesday and the third and final round is on Wednesday.

Sophomore Danielle Kang (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS), coming off a victory this summer at the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur, had the day's best score for the Waves. Her 2-over 74 has put her into a tie for 30th place.

The rest of the Waves are bunched up within one stroke of each other. Freshman Liv Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand), making her collegiate debut, is tied for 67th place after a 77. Senior Taylore Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Laurel Springs Academy), senior Martine de Gannes (Diego Martin, Trinidad) and junior Kaitlin Drolson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) are all tied for 73rd place after shooting 78s.

Karle led all Pepperdine players with three birdies during her round.
