Hoops Recruit Set for High School All-Star Game

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine men's basketball incoming freshman Hector Harold earned a roster spot for a prestigious postseason all-star game, as he will play in the High School Academic All-American Classic in Azusa, Calif., this weekend.

The second annual game will be held on Saturday (May 1) at the Felix Events Center on the campus of Azusa Pacific University. Harold is part of the "National All-Stars" team, which includes players headed to the likes of Stanford, Iowa, Georgia Tech, California, Miami, Ohio State, Virginia and New Mexico.

Harold, a 6-foot-6 small forward who originally hails from Pasadena, Calif., is graduating this spring from Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.) School. He helped lead the team to a second-place finish at the National Prep Championships in March and had a team-high 20 points in the semifinals as Northfield defeated top-ranked and undefeated Hargrave Military Academy. He made the All-NEPSAC honorable mention team and has a rating of 88 by ESPN.com's recruiting site.

Student-athletes were selected for the HSAAAC based on the following criteria: grade-point average, SAT/ACT scores, strength of high school curriculum, college selection, community service involvement, extra-curricular activities and basketball ability. This year's participants have an average grade point average of 3.6.

The game, which starts at 7:30 p.m., can be watched online via foxsports.com.

In addition to the game, the weekend includes a formal banquet, a Los Angeles tour, a free camp for Special Olympics, a Slam Dunk and 3-Point Competition and a parent workshop. Life Skills Performance workshops will be provided on the following topics: Financial Planning For Life After Basketball, Managing Academics & Athletics In College, Mental Training For Success, Maximizing The College Experience, Preparing For Professional Basketball After College, and a college panel board with former Academic All-Americans.
