The Rebels swept doubles play for a point, and then Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) gave the Waves their first point. After winning the first set against #45-ranked Kristina Nedeltcheva at #1 singles, the UNLV player retired.
After a UNLV victory at #4 singles, sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) tied things up again with a straight-set win at #5 singles. And then Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) finished off 72nd-ranked Jana Albers in straight sets at #2 singles to give the Waves a 3-2 lead and put them one point away from victory.
But UNLV won at both #6 and #3 singles in three sets and avenged an earlier 4-3 loss to Pepperdine that was played on Jan. 30 at UCLA.
The #37 Waves play their final 11 regular-season matches at home, beginning with Michigan on Friday (March 5) at 1:30 p.m.
