#2 UCLA Defeats Women's Tennis, 6-1

The Bruins (14-1) won all three doubles matches for the first point. They won the first set in all six singles matches, and moved within a point of clinching the match with straight-set victories at #3 and #4.
But four of the Waves' singles players battled back and won their second set: freshman Arianna Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) at #1, junior Anamika Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) at #2, sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) at #5 and senior Tania Rice (Burlington, Ont., Canada/Robert Bateman HS) at #6.
However, UCLA would capture the third set in the first three of those matches to be decided. In the final match to finish, Pepperdine's Rice prevailed at #6 by the score of 6-4 in the third set.
The Waves (4-8), who are in the midst of playing their final 11 regular-season matches at home, next face #15 Florida State on Wednesday (March 10) at 11 a.m. It's part of a doubleheader with the men's team, which squares off against Duke at 2 p.m. The men's tennis team is providing free Pink's hot dogs to fans in attendance.
