MALIBU, Calif. - Two members of the Pepperdine men's basketball team - sophomore guard
Keion Bell and junior forward
Mychel Thompson - have earned All-West Coast Conference honorable mention notice, the league office announced today.
Bell (Los Angeles, Calif./Pasadena HS), a sophomore guard, averaged team highs of 18.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals through the end of the regular season. In the WCC, he currently ranks #3 in scoring, #7 in steals, #8 in assists and #15 in rebounding (5.2). During conference play alone, he averaged 16.6 points.
Thompson (Portland, Ore./Stoneridge Prep), a junior forward, is second on the team with 11.8 points overall and 12.4 points in WCC play. He leads the team with 48 three-pointers made and 19 blocked shots.
Bell was named to the WCC All-Freshman team last year. This is the first All-WCC honor for both players.
Pepperdine (7-23, 3-11) is the #8 seed for the upcoming Zappos.com West Coast Conference Tournament and will play rival Loyola Marymount in the first round at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Friday (March 5) at 6 p.m. Fans can listen to Al Epstein's broadcasts of all of Pepperdine men's and women's games at the WCC Tournament at www.pepperdinesports.com with a subscription to Wave Casts.
